A New Day

After a few hours of sleep curled on the chairs of the 6th floor waiting room, it felt great to see Carly's cute face. She is on a breathing machine and they are trying to keep her sedated but she seems to have other ideas. She is waving her arm around and scratching at the sheets like she would at home. She is acually able to move around all of her extremities now. They didn't know they had a Nelson/Nunes on their hands.

The surgery took longer than anyone expected because the tissue ended up being more fibrous and vascular than anticipated. This meant they had to move slowly and replace a lot of blood along the way. Dr Gupta said that the tumor had a well definied boundary and should they decide on a second surgery he expects that they could get out quite a bit more. They stopped when they did because 15 hours is a long time for a little girl to be under anesthesia. We will learn more about the next steps as they observe Carly over the next few days. Thanks again for your continuing love and support. The nurse said that Carly is a very strong baby and we know that you are all contributing to that. Keep up the good work!

Love, Brad

I had a dream about you 3 this morning and that everything went successful and we were all celebrating. I immediately came to my computer to check and see what the outcome was and was so relieved to see that things went so well. I was thinking of you all day yesterday and will continue to send carly all the love that has been given to us.

"strong baby" is an understatement - I wouldn't want to be the kid that makes the mistake of messing with Carly in the sandbox in a couple years!

Lots of love to you all...

I'm sure yesterday was the longest day ever, but you're right today is a new day. Let's hope that Carly just gets stronger and stronger as the days go on.

Love you guys

Hey Now Brad, Christa, and Carly Grace: At this precise moment, there is a satellite over Colorado in the perfect spot for The Texas Contingent (a large and influential group of do-gooders) to beam healing rays so that they reflect directly to you at S.F. At 10:05 am off they go!

Get some rest.

Love you guys,

John Hart

Wow, Carly. Only a Nelson/Nunes baby is that feisty after 15 hours of anesthesia! She's probably ready to get out there a go for her walk -- hopefully it won't be long.

Thinking of you 3 constantly.

Love,
Andy

Happy to hear the surgery went well and that Carly is "dancing" this morning - in typical Nelson/Nunes fashion of course. Glad you got some rest and the good vibes continue to be spread from East to West. Best wishes; we love you all so much.

Hi Carly,

Well, this lame-o South Bay family hit the hay at 9:30 last night-- while you were still going strong in OR! We did wake to such good news though that you are out of surgery & wiggling about. Hana has decided that she'll never be a doctor unless she gets a "really big breakfast".

Hope you have a chance to rest up-- try catching the Steelers game this weekend. It should be very interesting-- we're playing the Jaguars, our backup quarterback just came from there, & Big Ben has missed two practices this week with injuries! Eeeeek!

Much love,

H, H, Z & K
