Heads Up

Carly's progress continues to be slow and steady. I have never been the most patient person in the world so it isn't always easy to wait, but we have made a point of writing down all of the new things she does each day and the list is getting longer. In the last week her neck strength has gotten a lot better and she can now hold up her head for minutes at a time while Christa slowly rocks her from side to side. She is still managing without her shunt, her electrolyte levels continue to be normal and her blood labs are now only required every two weeks. That's a long way from the three times a week testing that was required only a few weeks ago. She has also started making a few cute talking sounds in the last few days. I'm pretty sure she is trying to say dad or brad, but Christa isn't convinced.

Love, Brad

"spread"? I think that she's calling for more Widespread!

Brad, I think we all wish we had 1/100th of the patience and perseverance that you and Christa have! And, I bet Carly will be saying "go Purdue" soon, just in time for football season!

glad to hear she's moving in the right direction. she may be the toughest little girl we all know but it makes sense that she's gotta go at her own pace in order to sustain her progress.

you guys are awesome parents! we are sending you three lots of love always, sheila & keith

Dear Brad, Christa and Carly, We've been following you for months through updates from Chicky. After reading your blog this past weekend while visiting in VT, I wanted to reach out and let you know that we're praying for all of you and are amazed by your little girl, both of you, and all you have been through and have done to support her healing. God bless you. With much love, Nancy, Alex, Meghan and Charlotte Small

I think she is saying "lake" otherwise stated, "I want to go to Douglas Lake". I hope things continue to progress as they have been, no set backs, just slow and steady. I'll try to send some patience your way along with the positive energy.
Love,
Jenny

Brad and Christa,

Good to run in to you at Gap today. Random...but, so happy for the coincidence.

You two are doing a great job with Carly. She's so lucky to have you both. And, she's such a doll. Really, adorable.

Maybe we'll run in to each other at UCSF in July. ;)

Sending you all my best,
Jackie
